The modern workplace is constantly evolving, with new trends and technologies reshaping how we think about office design. Gone are the days when offices were filled with endless rows of desks or a few breakout areas that offered little more than a change of scenery. Today, the focus is on creating multifunctional spaces—areas that are not just flexible and adaptable but also cater to a variety of work modes. Whether employees need a quiet spot to concentrate, a collaborative zone for meetings, or a casual setting for informal chats. Multifunctional spaces provide the versatility needed in today’s dynamic work environment.
So, what exactly are multifunctional spaces? In a nutshell, these are areas within an office that are designed to serve multiple purposes. They are flexible zones that can be easily adapted to different tasks and activities. They are the Swiss Army knife of office design—one moment, a multifunctional space might be used for a team meeting, and the next, it could transform into a quiet area for focused work or a casual spot for brainstorming sessions.
The key characteristics of multifunctional spaces include flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to support a wide range of work activities. This makes them invaluable in modern offices where the pace of work and the needs of employees are constantly changing.
One of the biggest advantages of multifunctional spaces is their positive impact on employee well-being. By providing a variety of work environments within the same office, these spaces allow employees to choose the setting that best suits their mood and the task they’re working on. This flexibility can lead to reduced stress, increased job satisfaction, and improved mental health.
Moreover, by encouraging movement and interaction throughout the day, multifunctional spaces help prevent the physical and mental fatigue that can come from sitting in the same spot for hours on end. This, in turn, ticks all the right boxes—mental well-being, productivity, and, of course, a bottom-line saving on space.

UKP

The collaboration between UKP and Sagal highlights the value of designing workspaces that are both functional and welcoming. By focusing on employee comfort and encouraging a sense of community, organizations can unlock hidden potential and fuel innovation. UKP employees shared positive feedback, with Michael noting how the redesigned space boosted interaction, leading to more spontaneous meetings and informal gatherings in the new breakout areas.
Pod Management

Since our initial furniture setup for Pod Management in 2022, the company’s growth introduced a new challenge. With the shift to a hybrid work model, the office became unpredictable—busy some days, but nearly empty on others, turning into a “white desk graveyard.” The goal was to maintain a vibrant, engaging workspace throughout the week.
We worked closely with the client, showcasing solutions in our showroom, and introduced the New OTTO collaboration table. Designed to break the monotony, this table adds energy and functionality, serving as extra workspace on busy days and an impromptu meeting spot on quieter ones. We also added in a few mobile whiteboards and storage for even more flexibility for team working.
Leumi

Working closely with Leumi, we develop a space that is both comfortable and functional, encouraging relaxation and collaboration. The space features a range of thoughtfully selected furniture, including a custom Cubo storage unit to house a coffee machine. The inviting New York sofas create a home like atmosphere, while the kitchen island and bar stools provide an area for preparing food and drinks or simply engaging in casual conversations.
This new welcome/meeting space has quickly become a favourite spot for Leumi UK employees. It’s frequently used for informal meetings, brainstorming sessions, and as a place to take a break. The addition has helped enhance the collaborative and productive spirit within the office.
Scale Space

Scale Space redefines the modern workspace, offering a versatile environment that effortlessly balances quiet focus with dynamic collaboration. It’s designed to adapt to your unique work style, featuring flexible, multipurpose areas that can be quickly customized with mobile folding tables and stackable chairs to meet diverse needs.
