Did You Know..
In the UK, around 60% of our household waste ends up being burned in incinerators – even though most of it could be recycled if there were stricter government regulation. You know why there’s not? Because it’s cheaper to burn it.
Enough is Enough
Through our network of #furniturefriends and various online LinkedIn communications we got talking to Georgia Elliott-Smith, MD of Element 4 Group Ltd a Sustainability & Wellbeing Consultancy, Georgia is on a personal and professional battle to take the government to court. She has spent years tirelessly campaigning to get MPs, incinerator operators, and local councils to implement better ways of dealing with our rubbish but they’re just not listening.
Through detailed discussion with her environmental lawyer, Georgia believes that the government is ignoring their commitment to the Paris Agreement (which legally binds countries to rescue their CO2 emissions as fast as possible), so has decided enough is enough; she’s going to take them to court so that the law can be changed.
