The Pantone Color Institute has created a new colour for 2022 and has been influencing product development and purchasing decisions in a number of industries for 23 years, including fashion, home furnishings, and industrial design, as well as product packaging and graphic design.
This year’s Pantone Color of the Year, Very Peri 17-3938, has a playful and creative tone that may remind you of the purple spots on Sully in Monster’s Inc. or even the decor (think of the door) in Monica’s flat in F.R.I.E.N.D.S? One thing for certain, this colour is not boring. Although some will consider this a deep purple, Pantone describes the Very Peri colour as a “periwinkle blue”.
In a recent press release, Pantone explained the intention behind their trend choice for the year: “We wanted to create a colour that blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red that animates our creative spirits.”
Will you be considering Very Peri in your next interior design?
Last year we attended the SBID Awards, and one of the office interior winners featured a colour not too dissimilar to this year’s Very Peri. Trendsetters perhaps?
Past Pantone colours
Last year in 2021 we saw a duo combination of colours with the Ultimate Grey 17-5104 and Yellow Illuminating 13-0647 tones, which also featured very strongly in some of the SBID finalists interiors last year and even some of our own projects. In fact, I think this colour palette still has much more to give within the workplace.
A personal favourite for me still, is the 2019 living coral, and not just because that was a cracking year before…. (Don’t mention the C-word).
